This MAP agreement will be used for the engineering and design of improvements to Ranchitos Road from Salazar Road to La Posta Road. The associated line items in the Capital Impvoements Project budget are 59-08-45003 NMDOT MAP Grant Ranchitos Road and 59-10-45003 NMDOT TM - Ranchitos Road (Town Match).
This request is for the extension of the grant agreement end date from June 30, 2021 to June 30, 2022. There are no changes in the funding amount.
Summary/Background:
The Town of Taos acts as the fiscal agent to the Children, Youth and Families Department grant agreement. The purpose of the following programs is to seek alternatives for youth who have been arrested or referred to the juvenile probation office or at risk of such referral. An end-of-year report will be given to Council in July. The grant agreement supports the following programs for fiscal year 2021-2022. The 40% in-kind match requirement is met by the programs.

The Town of Taos plans to apply for the Camino del Medio renovation project through the Transportation Project Fund. The grant request is $3,420,000 with a Town of Taos match of $180,000. The project improvements include intersection improvements, earthwork, plant mix bituminous pavement, drainage structure improvements, permanent signage, traffic control measures, bicycle/pedestrian improvements utility relocation and miscellaneous construction.

Covid-19 Update Summary:
Nationally, cases were down 18% in the last seven days, 16% in New Mexico, and 25% in Taos County.
The average daily case count in New Mexico fell to 184 cases per day last week.
Current hospitalizations decreased, the 7-day average is 120. Still above the recent low of 86 on Apr 8.
Average deaths per day in NM dropped to 1.4 per day. Having peaked at 36 on Dec 17.
There were no additional deaths reported among Taos County residents last week. The total remained at 52.
Testing in Taos County decreased to 560 tests compared to 614 tests the previous week.
The crude 14-day positivity rate is 1.2%. The crude case rate is 1.0 cases per day (14-day avg), below the new gating target of 3.28. Taos County’s Fully Vaccinated rate is 64%, well above this window’s target of 45%.Taos County remained turquoise on May 5 and the next evaluation will be Wednesday June 2.
