The "Taos Adventures Steeped in Culture" campaign is designed around the COVID-19 recovery capitalizing on the multiple incredible outdoor recreation opportunities, open spaces, cultural and historical assets that can be experienced without jeopardizing public health. Blended with the rebound marketing campaign is the message that Taos is the ideal destination for a mental and spiritual reboot in the heart of the majestic Sangre de Cristo Mountains. The outdoor recreation, eco-tourism and art all appeal to the target markets of Milennials, Gen-X and Baby Boomers from drive to markets. In addition to the marketing campaign, the Town received funding to update the Taos.org website.
Summary/Background:
The case count in Taos County since July 6 has increased by 30 cases. Attached is a short interim report highlighting this change and putting it in the context of the nation and state.
Nationally, cases are up 48% in the week to July 11. 26% in the state. But up over 170% in Taos County in the six days since July 6. Bringing Taos County close to the case rate criteria set by NMDoH for the now defunct Red to Green Framework.
To put this in context, the weekly case rate in Taos County exceeded 600 at the peak of the pandemic in November. It is now at 92.
40% of the cases in Taos County last week were among under 20 year olds. The majority of cases have been in the more populated communities in Taos County; Taos, Ranchos de Taos, and El Prado.
While we would all like to move on, it seems we are not done yet.

Tim
