Summary:
The case rate has stabilized across all levels of US geography. However, following an expected lag, the daily death count has begun to increase in New Mexico. Although, we have not had a reported Covid-19 related death in Taos County for over five weeks.
Due to the Labor Day weekend there has been a delay in data reporting by NMDoH. The data for the holiday weekend will likely be published later today. Therefore, this report is for the week ending Friday, September 3.
Summary:
- Nationally, cases were up 2% in the last seven days, 3% in New Mexico but down 13% in Taos County.
- The average daily case count in New Mexico increased to 840 cases per day last week up from 816 the week before. Above the state’s most recent target of 210 . Having reached a recent low of 58 on June 30.
- Current hospitalizations decreased 1%, the 7-day average is 394. Having reached a recent low of 67 on July 7.
- Average deaths per day in NM increased to 7 per day. Having reached a recent low of 1 on June 29.
- There were 77 new cases in Taos County last week, down from 89 the week before. Bringing the total to 2,041.
- There were no additional deaths reported among Taos County residents last week. The total remains at 56.
- Testing in Taos County has increased to a 7-day average of 180 tests per day, up from 175 the prior week.
- Taos County’s crude positivity rate is 6.8% (14-day avg). The crude case rate is 11.9 cases per day (14-day avg), above the old gating target of 3.28. Taos County’s adult fully vaccinated rate is 82%.
