Summary/Background:
Reported cases in Taos County nearly doubled last week to 98. Cases also increased nationally and statewide but less quickly than in Taos County. Hospitalizations in New Mexico increased more slowly than cases. The CDC’s community levels hospital related indicators remain below threshold in the Santa Fe Health Service Area.
Taos County was categorized as having Low Levels of Covid-19 by the CDC on June 2. However, case data reported since then indicates we can expect Taos County to be recategorized at the Medium Level tomorrow, June 9.
The CDC recommendations for individuals at the Medium Level are:
· If you are at high risk for severe illness, talk to your healthcare provider about whether you need to wear a mask and take other precautions
· Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines
· Get tested if you have symptoms
The full list of recommendations for the Medium Level, including community-level strategies, is attached.
